Tom Brady Rookie Auto Sells For Record $2.25 million

A Tom Brady rookie autograph is now the most expensive football card sold after a record-breaking auction Friday night.

After starting the auction at $75,000, 67 total bids drove the 2000 Tom Brady Playoff Contenders Championship Rookie Ticket Auto up to a record $2.25 million sale.

Sold through Lelands, the card is numbered 99/100 and is graded a BGS NM-MT+ 8.5. The autograph is graded a 9.

According to Lelands, the card was originally purchased on eBay over a decade ago and has been in a private collection since. Lelands received the card raw and submitted it to Beckett for grading before auction.

According to Darren Rovell, the card is the 8th-most expensive sports card ever sold. Brady’s rookie is the only football card among the Top-10, with baseball taking up six total sports and basketball three spots.

The record sale comes shortly after Brady won his seventh Super Bowl ring in his first season with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
